Why EmFinders connects to the existing 911 system

Filed under: Uncategorized — jnalley @ 9:19 am

Whenever caregivers or parents talk about services that provide location information, it’s natural to talk about civil liberties and privacy rights. We all want the benefits of location technology without giving up our right to privacy.

That’s why we designed the EmFinders EmSeeQ device to ONLY provide location information to 911/law enforcement.

Don’t get us wrong, we love the Internet, BUT we know it can’t always be trusted ─ hackers, viruses and those bent on abusing access to private information can wreak havoc on Internet connected GPS devices. GPS/AGPS based units can be fun and do serve a purpose, but NOT when it comes to an emergency situation.

The safety and security of your loved ones is a responsibility EmFinders takes very seriously which is why we work with professionals (911, and public safety personnel) to provide the safest and most secure system available.

When a loved one wanders away, you want a system that works indoors, is secure (can only be seen by the police) and doesn’t depend on how quickly you can get to the right website on the family’s computer.

EmFinders enables emergency responders to use the existing, nationwide 911 system to rapidly locate and recover your loved one in critical situations.

The bottom line is this, when your loved one is missing, lost or wanders away, who do you trust?

We think peace of mind comes from knowing your loved one will be recovered by the dedicated emergency responders trained to do just that.

UCLA Aging and Technology Conference

Filed under: Uncategorized — lbrodsky @ 9:44 pm

I am currently at 32,000 feet somewhere over Arizona traveling to LA. I am going back to the place of my birth. I have not been to LA since I was a sophomore in college. EmFinders was invited to the UCLA Aging and Technology Conference and we are very honored to be a panelist in the discussion. EmFinders definitely fits in this space. We focus our solution on aging Americans who have cognitive impairments that might not enable them to get help for themselves by calling 9-1-1.

We ride the wave of technology by using the amazing capability of the cellular network to locate individuals when they need it most. I am going to see 3 amazing people at the conference. Dr. Gary Small, the programs director is know for his many books on helping us remember things as we age. He came to Dallas last year as a guest of the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Dallas Chapter (where I was working). He did several presentations on the aging  brain. I was lucky enough to spend some quality time with him (thanks to Dallas traffic).  I will also be meeting Kimberly Kelly, a wandering expert who lives in California. I first discovered Kimberly and her wonderful side kick H. Diane Connolly about 8 months ago. She is a huge advocate for people with Alzheimer’s disease and works with search and rescue teams from around the county to educate them about how to find our wandering elders. And lastly, Art Linkletter is the keynote for the lunch during the conference. Wow! I do not think Mr. Linkletter needs an introduction. I hope to meet caregivers, academicians, doctors and aging experts.
